Liverpool property management company Downing has appointed KKA, from a shortlist of five, to lead the interiors team on its £400million mixed-use scheme in First Street, Manchester.
Work is well advanced on the transformation site and KKA will be responsible for the interior design of 2,224 bedrooms and amenity space in three new towers rising to 45 stories, as well as working with SimpsonHaugh Architects and landscape consultant Optimized Environments (OPEN) to provide a community-centric public realm for the entire neighborhood.
The program includes one hectare of new landscaped public park and landscaped gardens, more than half of which are accessible to the general public.
With the addition of 140 new trees and the commercial units that open directly to them, this green space will boost biodiversity, improve air quality and improve the well-being of First residents and the wider community. Street and neighboring areas.

It will feature over 2,224 rooms in a mix of accommodation types and price points, ranging from private studios to five-bedroom apartments, as well as conventional one- and two-bedroom apartments.
An extensive offering of indoor private amenities will be provided to complement the accommodations, along with 17,000 square feet of commercial leisure, dining and retail space.
