Interior Design Minor and Certificate Now Offered by the College of Architecture and Urban Planning

The CU Denver College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) is pleased to announce an expansion of interior design studies. CU Denver undergraduates are now eligible to earn a minor in interior design, and graduate students and those with an undergraduate degree can earn a certificate in interior design.

By adding interior design to CAP offerings, students can learn the fundamentals of interior design through a holistic, integrated, and experiential lens.

“Interior design combines the pragmatics of spatial planning and programming with the poetics of human experience and place-making,” said Dean Nan Ellin. “The rigors of interior design lie at the intersection of environmental stewardship, social justice, cultural diversity, and human-centered design.”

The college would like to express its gratitude to 2021-22 Visiting Associate Professor Susan Melsop for leading and coordinating the process of introducing interior design to CU Denver. Thanks to Melsop’s involvement with Denver’s professional interior design community and commitment to our students, we are excited to offer more interior design courses this academic year.
